Happy Birthday Grandma!

Today my Great-Grandma Lupe turns 100 years old! I feel so lucky to have her and one other great-grandmother still alive. She is one of the most amazing people I know, she has been such a survivor throughout the years. I also recently found out that she became a US a citizen when she was 5 years old, she was brought over here when she was very small by her mother. She never knew her father and her mother took his name to her grave. I find that interesting because back in 1911 that would probably be pretty scandalous.  My theory is that my great-great grandmother probably had her with a married man or just with someone she did not want to be a father to her. She has had an interesting 100 years, three husbands one that includes my biological great-grandfather (her ex husband) that was a hardcore drinker/philanderer who eventually passed away by driving off a cliff after a night of drinking. Because of his partying she eventually left him and soon fell in love with my great-grandpa Pete. They had an amazing relationship where soon after meeting, and her in an toxic marriage they ran away together. They decided to settle in  Santa Maria where she still lives now. They love the open space and clean air that it provides. It is such an amazing place, that I love to visit.
